A Rose By Any Other...
Quick watch this video:
I’ve noticed a trend lately. Maybe you heard about Wikipedia locking down their page for the word “recession.” Doesn’t sound very open source to me, but as it turns out, they didn’t much like the general public bickering over what that word means. In fact, they were so upset, they didn’t even like their own definition.
Now, I don’t blame Biden’s laser-focused rush for stage-right, he gets cranky when he misses nap time.
These are the eyes of a man in need of a nap
And this isn’t exactly the first time we’ve seen Wikipedia function more as a political arm. Just look at this dangerous, far right conspiracy that…was actually fine until the general public learned about it and started asking questions
But the whole hullabaloo over the word is what’s most interesting. To be fair, it’s not surprising in an era where they’re attempting to normalize a new definition of “racism”—
—where only white people can be racist. (Because of institutional power, you see.)
“I have all the institutional power”
Hell, I hear they can’t even figure out what it means to be a “woman.”
I mean, I don’t care either way. I say go for whatever your preference may be. More power to yo…er…uh…
Oh shit, sorry ‘bout that.
Hey, you know what’s really weird, though? You might’ve heard that Merriam Webster redefined Anti-Vaxxer to include people who oppose mandates. And that makes sense, it’s strange that you can completely support a thing and, simultaneously, vehemently oppose it…just because you don’t agree to force it on other people. But as far as their online dictionary is concerned, that is indeed more or less how they defined it, even as far back as 2018.
“I don’t care if you’re allergic, we’re choosing anaphylactic shock today, Billy. I’ll be damned if people call me Anti-Peanut!”
That said, this is a bit strange when we see that their definition of “Anti-Vax” (the thing the Anti-Vaxxer is manifesting), doesn’t mention mandates at all.
Anyway, just something I nooticed. But on that note, if we’re forcing a “vaccine” on people, at least we can agree on what that actually means…
Wow! “Protection” is all you need? So, now that vitamin C is a vaccine, my insurance can finally pick up the tab for my crippling lemon addiction!
Hey, this is the world we live in, and hopefully that won’t be a problem anyway with us achieving herd immunity for certain, recent viruses.
Wait, that too?
I suppose words do grow and change with any given culture or society. I mean, I’m pretty happy, but I’m not gay, and while I might smoke a fag in London, I absolutely won’t on Crenshaw boulevard. And I get that Wikipedia used to be pretty open source, meaning a lot of back and forth over terms.
But, still. It is an interesting trend. And hell, at least there won’t be any struggle to define the word “Definition” or anythi--
—well shit.
